The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Library is the focal point for the exchange of biomedical and scientific information vital to the support of the research activities conducted at the National Institutes of Health. The library also provides information services and resources to several other agencies within the Department of Health & Human Services.


The tour will include a look at the history of the NIH Library (including the effects of the 2007 flood and the Library’s renovation), an examination of the duties of an NIH Informationist, an instruction program, a technology sandbox seminar, a bioinformatics discussion, and a look at NIH’s “Going Green” initiative, all in addition to a tour of the Library and the Green Terrace.

Medical Center Station (Red Line). Attendees must enter the NIH campus via the Gateway Visitors Center next to the Medical Center Metro Station. After exiting the Gateway Visitor Center, walk two blocks west to Building 10 or take the Campus Shuttles. Enter Building 10 through the South Entrance. The Library is the only door down the left corridor.
