Dear Colleagues,

We have been noticed that recently (in the past 1 year), there are more and more duplicate records in OCLC database. For example, this title: Economic integration across the Taiwan strait

By doing title phrase search, you would access to 11 titles.
French records: 853061880 (print) 849592382 (electronic)
German records: 844723693 (print)
Danish record: 828895770 (print)
Dutch record: 846806429 (online)

English record: 833338736 (print, created 20120809; 4 holdings); 829198909 (print, created 20121030, 18 holdings); 817258594 (print, created 20121030, 25 holdings)
		828735191 (electronic, created 20120809; 8 holdings); 827955312 (electronic, created: 20121030 7 holdings): 827208099 (electronic, created 20130211, 19 holdings)

So here are the questions:
1. It's quite time-consuming in such a case to go through the list to decide which record is better for your title. Is there any quick way to customize the OCLC list setting to show the record language type and format type? (Seems they are not options right now. )

2. while facing so many same language and format types of record, in this case, 3 English records for print title and 3 for electronic copies, what should be the standard to choose the preferred one? (Usually I encourage my staff to choose the one with most other institutions' holdings (usually those records are more completely cataloged. But sometimes it may not be the case). But I don't know whether there should be other standards or not.)

3. Although we can submit request OCLC to merge the duplications, is there other way to avoid the more and more duplications? (I found this becomes more and more severe since the past year?)
