Lieber Sepp

===================================================

(storeman):
- HOL: Corrigir Errores:
    http://bis.trialog.ch/lists
    http://bis.trialog.ch/holdings?view=slide
    http://bis.trialog.ch/holdings?view=print

(librarian)

===========================================

(rlibrarian):

=========================

Ordenar listas

Ordenar los campos por defecto:
- HOSG: sys1  245a  245c

- HOLG:  852b    852h  245a

Estadistica primera página
==========================
Pequeña tabla con:

- qué tenemos: hbib, count(HOS), count(HOL)
    SELECT hbib, count(*) FROM ... GROUP BY hbib;
    SELECT hbib, count(*) FROM ... GROUP BY hbib;

Lista HOSG:
===========

 ocrr_ptrn:
 - Poner en cada campo de ocrr_ptrn que se abre una ventana con f866a, 852b, 852h
 - Poner de encabezada el nombre de "Holdings"

The advanced search allows the user to find journals and holdings that
comply with a broad range of criteria that can be concatenated and each one
used as a positive or negative filter:

General criteria:
   HOL with <field> <compared to> <value>

   example:  f245a like "biology"

Explanation:
  <field>: fields that are used. within zs
  <compared to>: equal | not equal | greater than | smaller than | like |
      not like | nn% similar to | starts with | ends with
  <value>: string | number | regex

Special criteria:
TA:
- continued journal:  f008y = '9999' or f866a ~ '->?$'
- ceased journal: f008y <> '9999' or f866a !~ '->?$'
- journal that exists online: online = 'y'
- journal that exists also online: online = 'y' AND f866a
- journal that has been published xy times per year:  f310_e ~ ''

HOL:
- HOL that has been marked incomplete by the MAGUSER: incomplete = 'y'
- HOL that has notion of beeing incomplete in f866a: icpl = 'y'
- HOL that has no notion to beeing incomplete in f866a: icpl = 'y'
- HOL that has  no notion of incompleteness: icpl = 'n'
- HOL that the MAGUSER marked degraded: sane = 'n'
- HOL that MAGUSER has marked in good estate: sane = 'y'
- HOL that has <more|less|equal>  than nn volumes: sum(years)
- HOL which content of field f866a has not been recognized: recognized='n'
        created using: hop_result.type !~ '^MDL '
- HOL that has been annotated: update > xxx? AND user  = 'USER|*'
- HOL field f866a that has been changed: update > xxx? AND user='USER|*'
- HOL that has been reserved: level = 'reserved'

HOS:
- HOS that has <less|equal|more> than nn HOL
- HOS that has been marked correct: xxx? = 'y'
- HOS that has been changed: been: update > xxx? AND user='USER|*'

My concern, too, plus a few more:

Bibliographic records let you

1)      Compare holdings across institutions using automation

2)      Take advantage of other institutions cataloging (this is a stronger argument if the titles are likely to be held elsewhere)

3)      Put discovery where your users will find it—GoogleBooks, for example, is fed from WorldCat

4)      Put discovery where those helping users will find it—librarians will look in the opac

If you are going to establish a title and date, you might as well batch create MARC, if you can.  The same minimal data you would put in a finding aid can be turned into MARC records using MARCedit.  Starting with a spreadsheet, you can generate both MARC records and EAD components from the same source data.  We’re in the process of doing this with a backlog of student essays, and we’re looking at doing it for our publications legacy titles, too.

We’ve done both, but never only EAD.

Example:

Finding aid: http://nrs.harvard.edu/urn-3:HUL.ARCH:hua36010

Opac: http://lms01.harvard.edu/F/?func=scan&scan_code=IWI&scan_start=HUM+48.1

Subject: [EAD] EADs for published materials

Hello all,

Are other repositories using EAD to encode book (or other published material) collections?  Colleagues outside the archival/manuscript realm have been proposing this as a way to alleviate backlog of uncataloged published material in special collections.

Are others doing this?  Concerns?  Comments?  My main concern is the published materials will not appear in a search of WorldCat and will only be found by researchers who know we have particular book collections.

Best wishes,

Jennifer
