With EAD3 slated for release in February 2014, a small group of archivists and other practitioners are forming an EAD3 study group to share advice, experiences, and first practices around EAD3 implementation. We expect to meet regularly by phone and email to exchange information on EAD3 implementation, focusing specifically on decisions that will form the basis of institutional or consortial "best practice" guides. Our hope is that by sharing information and decisions, we can more easily develop shared best practices for EAD3.

The group would begin its work in January 2014 and conclude in time to report out, most likely at the EAD Roundtable meeting, at SAA in August. We'd then invite interested individuals to carry on to create a set of high-level EAD3 best practices to be finished around the end of CY2014.

If you are an archivist, tool builder, or other practitioner who plans to implement EAD3 right away, please consider joining our group. Although we are informal group, we are all looking forward to doing real work and engaging the issues with others who bring their knowledge, passion for EAD, and time to commit to the group.

If this opportunity interests you, please reply by email to all four of the group's conveners (not to the EAD list, please!) by December 31, 2013:
