Regardless of the appropriateness of the expression, is “self-proclaimed messiah” really a profession or occupation within the meaning of the Act?
Even if it were, we can, to some extent at least, guard against this kind of subjectivity by using controlled vocabulary terms, rather than copying any term or phrase that occurs in a newspaper. That rules out “Pseudo-messiahs” in LCSH, for this person, as tha term is clearly intended for a specific, historical usage – it’s a narrower term of “Jews”.
