The GPO’s Federal Digital System (FDsys) provides free online access to official publications from all three branches of the Federal Government. Through FDsys, users are able to search for documents and publications via advanced search capabilities and are able to refine and narrow their search for quick access to needed information. They can also browse for documents and publications by collection, Congressional committee, date, and Government author; access metadata about documents and publications; and download documents and publications in multiple renditions or file formats. With FDsys, users can download a single file or download content and metadata packaged together in a compressed file. Attendees to this session, taught by a GPO trainer, will learn the basics and background of FDsys, including information on how to navigate the site, what resources are available to users, and instruction on important features such as basic searching, browsing, the help function, and more.
