Hi, John,

I _think_ with 20/20 hindsight that we are not understanding what the 
original design criteria were:
-PROTECT THE DISC
-Allow meaningful room for spine labeling
-Allow for easily produced jacket art and booklets
-Be inexpensive

I still think that the jewel box offers good protection for discs, but I 
do not disagree with all your comments, either. The key things for 
protection are: suspending by the centre hole, making certain the edges 
have something to touch before the rest of the side, keeping the 
label/top side of the CD from being scratched (as well as the bottom side)
