The Commerce Research Library is seeking a librarian to serve a detail lasting up to six months. This position requires a self-starter who is highly responsive to customers. Ability to multi-task and work on a wide range of projects at one time is a must. The librarian will run the reference desk and will provide reference and research services to all staff located at the U.S. Department of Commerce headquarters building with a broad range of research interests and subject matters. Some experience with legislative and legal research is helpful, but not necessary. The incumbent will give input on collection development and work with print collections to develop a more user-friendly collection. Additional duties include: scheduling and managing trainings & events, marketing, web development, drafting newsletters, and data collection & analysis of usage statistics. The detailee will be fully trained in the position.
The Commerce Research Library is located in the Headquarters Building of the U.S. Department of Commerce in downtown Washington, DC. We are a federal depository library with a large print collection and numerous online databases that support legal and business research.
