OCLC CJK Users Group received from OCLC the following instruction on Mar. 6, 2013:​​
• Spell-checking function to authority records
o Currently available in the Client.  You need to customize Spell Check to get it to check the fields in the authority records.  Go to Tools, Options, Spelling, Fields to Check – then add in 100, 400, 667, etc. for use in authority records.  The fields automatically set up do only apply to bibliographic records.

OCLC staff subscribed to this list may know the answer to my question.  What fields/subfields are gone over in *authority records* when invoking the spell-check command in Connexion Client?  I couldn't find a list in any of the online documentation at the OCLC site (though I could have easily missed it).  Nor does it seem the Tooks > Options > Spelling > Customize Fields to Spell Check list of fields applies to authority records.
