Just a note for those who know Lou Curtiss. This summer marked a couple of milestones for Lou. He turned 75 and sold Folk Arts Rare Records after a solid run of 47 years. The record store has since re-opened under new ownership. It's at a different location, but still sports Lou's collection of photographs, posters and memorabilia. Yesterday was proclaimed "Lou Curtiss Day" in San Diego by the Mayor, and KSDS jazz radio celebrated at the Lyman Saville Theatre at City College with a "Jazz Live" concert featuring Janet Klein and her Parlor Boys. (These concerts often show up on YouTube in the weeks following the date.) Lou continues to produce his "Jazz Roots" radio show Sundays from 8:00 - 10:00 pm.
