We have a very hard time coming up with giveaways that last throughout day because we have to stay within the budget from COSLA.  I note that other states seem more flush and I wonder if we could talk about this in May?  Where do your supplemental funds come from?  I know I could use some ammunition to shake loose some funds from other sources!

The NC Center for the Book had 3,000 hand fans to give away and they were gone by 4pm.  This year I’m planning to order more giveaways (but not clickers). J

Dear All,

Correct, no numbers were released.  There were some questions about the accuracy of numbers in past years and it was decided it would be best to focus on programs rather than numbers.  All events at last year’s festival were at capacity or near capacity and we expect the same for the 2015 festival.

Hope this helps.

Anne

I was told the same thing as Robin when I called to get numbers on attendance – there were no numbers released.

When I asked last fall, Ann said they were not counting as the estimates in the past may not have been very accurate.

I don't think I ever heard numbers beyond "lots" and "whew!" but I am sure Guy will have figures.  cc'ing him directly on this reply so he will see...

Apologies if this question has been asked and answered.  I’m working on stats and analysis of our book festival participation for 2014 and cannot, for all my fancy Googling, find attendance numbers for last year’s National Book Festival.  Was that information ever shared?
