I have been wondering if it is still a valid practice to code LCSH terms in 655 _0. The LCGFT FAQ document on the LC web site (June 2011 revision) states that the use of LCSH terms in 655 _0 is allowed for those disciplines in which LCGFT authority records have not yet been made (Q35). Since we now have general LCGFT terms, it seems that this old FAQ document would prohibit the use of general LCSH terms like "large type books" in 655 _0. On a related note, because we now have general terms in LCGFT and new lists coming in literature and religion (and art?), I also wonder if there would be any future policy changes to the practice of coding appropriate LCSH terms in 655 _0. Braille books was OK to include because tactile is a content type at the work level. You can use Large type books in 655 though - just code it 655 _0. It seems similar in concept to 'Braille books' which was added with list 13<http://classificationweb.net/approved-subjects/1513.html>. > > ---- > John Lavalie | Cataloging and Metadata Specialist | Des Plaines Public Library | www.dppl.org<http://www.dppl.org/> > > ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Adam L.
