Actually it was the Edison lateral discs which according to George Frow
were supposedly 78.8 and the discs still at 80. About 15 or 20 years
ago Joe Pengelly completed his long quest and completed a trio of Edison
records of the same take of the same song, a copy on cylinder, Diamond
Disc. and Lateral. They did not match at the proper speeds of 160, 80,
and 78.8. DD 52639-R Pagan Love Song has to play at 81.4 to match the
Lateral 14051-R at 78.8. Or if the DD is played at 80.0 the Lateral
matches at 77.4. George did not include the cylinder data in this page
234 in "Edison Disc Phonographs", and Joe did not have his data when I
visited him last year. We need to dig up his ARSC presentation or
perhaps an article if he published.
