Thanks for the additional information. Are we able to say what is the title 
 of this tin doll cylinder from "late 1888"? Has it been restored and/or 
are we  able to hear it?

the  earliest doll recording that *survives* is from late 1888.  It is a  
tin cylinder, rather than wax.  See reference:
