DTIC Training Opportunities for MLTW attendees Onsite at DTIC Headquarters,
Fort Belvoir, VA (Boot Camp, 2 sessions, 10 or 11 December 2015; STINFO
Overview Thursday morning 10 December)

Military Libraries Training Workshop attendees can maximize their travel and
learn about valuable resources and information handling and security after
the Arlington Workshop, at no charge. DTIC training is free. All DTIC users
are invited.  

The Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) will be offering two
sessions of our full day hands-on Boot Camp Training sessions at our
Headquarters at Fort Belvoir, VA, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Thursday, 10 December
and Friday, 11 December 2015.  We will also be offering a STINFO Overview
Thursday, morning 10 December, 8:30 - 11:00 AM, to familiarize participants
with controlled Defense information and its use and protection.

Boot Camp is a full day (time for breaks and lunch included) covering DTIC's
updated and enhanced resources for search and collaboration in the R&E

--	DTIC's Collections Search includes DTIC and Information Analysis
Center (IAC) Technical Report (TR) collections, Unified Research &
Engineering Database (URED)research project summaries, and legacy
Independent Research & Development (IR&D/IRAD) plus DoDTechSpace,
DoDTechipedia, and budget (planning) documents

--	DoDTechipedia is a specialized S&T wiki for the research community,
where users can collaborate, contribute, and retrieve information.  Defense
Communities is a DoD only wiki

--	DoDTechSpace is a collaborative tool to facilitate conversations and
get up-to-date information to and from colleagues worldwide

We welcome experienced users who can acquire new techniques to more easily
use DTIC information to meet organization missions. For new users, this
session offers an introduction to features and strategies to leverage DTIC
services in their environment.

As a DoD or federal employee or contractor, you may be providing controlled
information or working in a secured information space. This session will
cover the basics so you can provide answers securely.

This half day session covers DoD scientific and technical (S&T) information
management and your role:

--	Production, submission, dissemination, handling, and protection of
Defense-funded research documentation

--	How to mark and handle scientific and technical information to avoid
violations while providing resources for your customers

--	Defining and describing various types of protected information:
classified, controlled unclassified, public release, export controlled,
FOUO, copyright, etc.
