Quick bullets on these:
The P- series AFRS (later AFRTS) discs were the Popular Music Library, for
use by AFRS radio stations. They are just that, a library of tunes to be
used by local DJs.
They go back to the WWII era, when they were distributed on 16-in. discs.
They were intended for radio stations and VA hospital use, not individual
service men and women.
The tunes were not recorded for AFRS or the DoD, but were "donated" by the
record companies, etc. In the 1940s you do find an occasional alt. take.
