Dear PCC members,
CaMMS Executive is considering two topics for its upcoming Forum at ALA Annual in Orlando.
One topic is the use of non-LCSH/MeSH/NAL vocabularies in classic catalog environments as an alternative or complement to national library vocabularies. Have you made use of FAST in a VuFind or other next-gen catalog environment? Do you
use Getty, BISAC, Queer, Transportation Research Institute, or other thesauri in your MARC records? We would be very interested in hearing from you.
The second topic we are considering is the use of the “agile method” in technical services. Agile method is a project management style used in software development that uses short, iterative sprints that provide frequent opportunities for
feedback and assessment. See http://agilemethodology.org/. Is your technical services unit using this methodology for projects? Do you know of any that are?
Please contact me off-list at
[log in to unmask] as soon as possible if you have any ideas for either of these topics or would be willing to speak on them at ALA Annual.
Thank you for your assistance,
Bobby Bothmann
