Greetings,

I am in the process of upgrading the record for Arthur T. Downey (OCLC ARN 477263, LCCN n 80096255). I see in the second 670 that there is a birthdate which is wrong. According to Lexis Public Records and Who's Who (http://search.marquiswhoswho.com/profile/100004010278), this Mr. Downey was born August 17, 1937. I also see that the DNB (via VIAF) has this incorrect birthdate as part of the 100 field (http://viaf.org/processed/DNB%7C1068984007).

My question is this: what do we do with erroneous information in an authority record's 670 field when it comes from ECIP data? Do I insert another note indicating that the ECIP data is wrong, or can I remove the erroneous information?

Thanks!
