Subject: Public Release of NGDA LMA Dashboard and Reports
I am pleased to announce the public release of the GeoPlatform's Performance Dashboard for the National Geospatial Data Asset (NGDA) Lifecycle Maturity Assessments (LMA) - https://dashboard.geoplatform.gov/
This dashboard summarizes the maturity of a common set of data lifecycle metrics that resulted from the 2015 NDGA LMA survey. Each of the 177 NGDA datasets are included as well as a summary roll up. Web service reliability is displayed for NGDAs that include Web service links in their registered metadata. This is the baseline LMA and will include the annual submissions in the future.
The NGDA Dataset Reports and Theme Summary Reports will also be released publicly this month. The 177 Dataset Reports contain general information (NGDA title, points of contact, and metatdata links) and output from the LMA survey (maturity responses to 19 survey questions, justification comments, and a number of attachments). The 16 Theme Summary Reports contain general information about the Theme Lead and LMA submission status, a pie chart with an overview of dataset maturity, bar charts showing the number of datasets at each of the LMA stages, and the dashboard summary table containing maturity for each dataset in a Theme.
I would like to thank the Dataset Managers and Theme Leads across the agencies that have developed and executed these reports over the past 2 years as part of the implementation of the National Geospatial Data Asset Management Plan (NGDA MP). The NGDA MP is the 3-year process developed to implement OMB Circular A-16 Supplemental Guidance that implements the NGDA portfolio management process. The initial dashboard and reports are a baseline dataset lifecycle maturity assessment and provide insights on dataset maturity. They offer a mechanism to enable transparency and to accomplish portfolio management within and across agencies. This year these are being used to inform Theme strategic plans. Technical and management personnel can use the dashboard and reports to discover gaps and identified areas to work collaboratively on maintaining NGDAs. The assessments will be done annually and will show improvements over time.
