“Best Practices for Online Tutorials”


In this presentation you will learn how to use the video creation software JING. This software can help you produce short educational videos for colleagues or your clientele.  Learn helpful tips for beginners and illustrated ways to map out your ideas and content. Join us for this fun and interactive session on creating short videos.


Presenter: Tahirah Akbar-Williams, MLS, MA, Education & Information Studies Librarian, McKeldin Library, University of Maryland


Tahirah Akbar-Williams is the Librarian for the College of Education and Information Studies at University of Maryland College Park and a Faculty Associate at the School of Education at Johns Hopkins University. Tahirah received her Master of Library Science (MLS) and a Master of Arts (MA) in African American & African Diaspora Studies from Indiana University Bloomington. She finished her studies at The Ohio State University where she taught Women’s Studies and received a Master of Arts (MA). Tahirah has published, presented at numerous conferences and was the recipient of several scholarships and awards, including the American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leaders Award, the ALA’s Spectrum Scholarship, and Beta Phi Mu Honor Society-Harold Lancor Foreign Study Scholarship. Tahirah serves on the University of Maryland’s MLS Advisory Board and ALA’s Emerging Leaders Subcommittee.
