Sure, Cheryl. Will be happy to take a look at the authority records.

Title looks good (with macrons at the right places). To be true to transliteration, it would be good to add “hard sign” at the end of words that end with consonants (I am pretty sure they are on your item).

Spisokʺ gilʹdeĭskikhʺ torgovykhʺ i promyshlennykhʺ predprīi︠a︡tīĭ (Списокъ гильдейскихъ торговыхъ и промышленныхъ предпріятій)

I think the breve above the very last letter I in the last word is missing.

Variant access point for title in modern orthography:

246 3 Spisok gilʹdeĭskikh torgovykh i promyshlennykh predprii︠a︡tiĭ (Список гильдейских торговых и промышленных предприятий)

Thank you. I wasn't feeling brave enough to attempt authority records, but after your help, I've given it a shot. I'll send them your way probably later today or tomorrow.

I followed the link you provided about providing a transcription in modern orthography. Now I'm worried about my title. Can I ask you to look at that as well? I have: Spisok gilʹdeĭskikh torgovykh i promyshlennykh predprīi︠a︡tīi. (There are macrons above 2 i's in the last word.)

Sorry to be a bother. I'm working off a printout from a negative microfiche, trying to read a language and script I don't know, written in 2 different typefaces. It's been a challenge and I really appreciate your help.

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

Great job on the transcription of names of corporate bodies!

The 1 st NAR would be: Libavsk i ĭ birzhevoĭ komitet (please note the macron above letter i in "Libavskii" that I emphasized - for old orthography). 2 nd and 3 rd words are not capitalized, per capitalization rules for Russian language.

2 nd NAR: Libavskai︠a︡ torgovai︠a︡ kommiss ī i︠a︡ (again - macron above 2 nd I in the word "kommissiia")
You would also need a variant access point for different spelling of "kommissiia": - with one "m", which is more common in Russian.

VAR: Libavskai︠a︡ torgovai︠a︡ komiss ī i︠a︡.

You could also create variant access points for the geographic jurisdiction: 410 1 Liepāja (Latvia). #b Birzhevoĭ komitet and 410 1 Liepāja (Latvia). #b Torgovai︠a︡ kommiss ī i︠a︡.

If you would like to submit NARs for me for the final review of diacritics, etc., I would be happy to take a look. My institution symbol is ICU.

Subject: [PCCLIST] Russian language help

Hello,

Would someone who knows Russian help me with some access points? I have 4 issues of a serial published in Russian in Latvia at the beginning of the 20th century. On the title pages are the following:

1901: Izdanīe Libavskago Birzhevogo Komiteta
1908: Izdanīe Libavskoĭ Torgovoĭ Kommissīĭ
1909, 1911: Izdanīe Libavskoĭ Torgovoĭ Komissīĭ

I did my best with the transcription -- there were 2 different typefaces -- but there may be some mistakes.

It looks to me like I need at least 2 710s on this record. I know what "izdanie" means, and I can guess at the last word. The second word must be the name of the city (Liepaja, today). Where I'm going to get seriously messed up is with grammar. What should my access points look like?

Thank you.
