Thanks Inigo. One difference between vinyl and shellac/ phenolic is that the condition is not consistant across the entire record on many 78s. If you try to clean up the beginning of a record, the less damaged area later in the recording will be compromised. The two sides I decided not to use - Billy Wynn's Greenwich Village Orchestra - were both played with a steel needle on a lateral machine - the sound almost disappears until about 1/3 of the way through. After that, it is quite acceptable. I guess I'll make a priority to find a better copy of that later on. -Mickey Follow me on Twitter https://twitter.com/MickeyRClark M.C.Productions Vintage Recordings 710 Westminster Ave. West Penticton BC V2A 1K8 1-250-462-7881 http://mcproductions.ca ----- Original Message ----- From: "Inigo Cubillo" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Saturday, July 16, 2016 10:11 AM Subject: Re: [ARSCLIST] 7 new discs from Edison Diamond Discs and Needle Cut records > Mickey, the Muzio sounds with a bit of noise, but the quality of the > recording and the sound you managed to extract is astonishing.... sounds > so > natural! > Congratulations. > > Saludos, > > Inigo, from sunny Spain > --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
