The mission of the Digital Curation Innovation Center (DCIC) at the University of Maryland is to be a leader in the digital curation research and educational fields, and foster interdisciplinary partnerships using Big Records and archival analytics through public/ industry/government partnerships. By doing so, they hope to sponsor interdisciplinary projects that explore the integration of archival research data, user-contributed data, and technology to generate new forms of analysis and research engagements.

The DCIC has become a key part of the University of Maryland iSchool's plans to move Archives and Digital Curation studies into the 21st century. DCIC faculty and students will provide an overview of the Center's purpose, the equipment currently available, and how faculty plans to integrate the Center into classroom instruction. As a case study, participants will hear about the Overseas Pension Project, one of the Center's ongoing projects. That presentation will briefly explain the project, illustrate how students, faculty and outside stakeholders are involved, and talk about the various sources the Project's participants are using.
