Hi,

Just a few tips and tricks I have been showing people today:

Use the Flood Event Viewer (FEV) to see the water-level data : http://stn.wim.usgs.gov/FEV/#MatthewOctober2016
- On the left - Click on basemaps - most people like the satellite view...
- On the right, select the maps layers, check all the boxes of interest...

Example:
St. Augustine, FL : http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=295500081180000&begin_date=2016-10-03&end_date=2016-10-07
- to signup for the alerts - select hourly update ( or daily update) : http://water.usgs.gov/wateralert/subscribe2/?site_no=295500081180000&parm=62620

The USGS just had a live session on Facebook ( session recording is available), which includes explanations and examples of USGS data collection equipment and the USGS tasks after the hurricane has passed:
