The RDA Board and RDA Steering Committee (RSC) are seeking a qualified professional with expertise in RDA and cataloging to take on the role of Wider Community Engagement Officer.

This is one of two RSC positions described in the recent announcement about recruitment (http://www.rda-rsc.org/RecruitmentBoardRSC).

RDA is being developed to meet the needs of international, cultural heritage, and linked data communities for well-formed metadata. The RDA governance structure is in transition to an international framework, but it cannot represent the interests of every organization and community interested in using RDA. This role reflects the importance of ensuring that the needs of those groups are properly considered. This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the team responsible for developing RDA, the global standard enabling discovery of content.

The wider community of RDA comprises international and cultural heritage communities that have no other means of engaging with the governance and development of RDA. Liaison with linked data communities is carried out by the RDA Development Team and the RSC Technical Working Group.

The Wider Community Engagement Officer leads engagement with the wider community and maintains a proactive plan and schedule for its contribution to the development of RDA. The role represents the interests of organizations outside of the agreed regional representative bodies and is the liaison for the submission of revision proposals and discussion papers.

A full description of the responsibilities of this position is available at the link below.

As with other members of the RSC, the position is unpaid. Carrying out the responsibilities of the position requires a significant investment of time, and candidates must be able to meet that commitment.

To be eligible to apply, the candidate must work for an institution that has implemented RDA and must have expert knowledge of RDA. To apply for this position, please submit the form at the link below by October 29, 2016 to Gordon Dunsire, RSC Chair:  [log in to unmask]
