The University of Michigan Law Library invites applications for a full-time
library management position.

The Cataloging Services Unit Leader participates in library management,
strategic planning, and library-wide staffing, workflow, and
problem-solving as a member of the Law Library Management Team.  The
librarian has primary responsibility for ensuring timely and effective
intellectual access to the Law Library collection in all bibliographic and
physical formats and languages following national and internal standards.

*Minimum qualifications:*

   - M.L.S./M.L.I.S. or M.I. degree from an A.L.A. accredited U.S. school
   of information or library science
   - At least 3 years of cataloging experience as a librarian
   - Knowledge of and experience with library management systems
   - At least 2 years of experience supervising full time staff in an
   academic library
   - Proven ability to work effectively with other decision makers
   - Strong problem solving and leadership skills
   - Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical
   - Ability to learn and understand complex Law Library practices and
   procedures and to apply technology to them
   - Experience working with complex serials
   - Experience in a large research or law library
   - Flexibility and creativity to be effective in a changing environment.

the country with over a million volumes. The Law Library’s purpose is to
build collections, provide effective access to legal information in diverse
formats and provide facilities and services to support the teaching,
research and educational needs of Law School faculty and students. The
Michigan Law Library’s comprehensive collection covers Anglo-American,
foreign, comparative, and international law, and includes legislation,
court reports, and appropriate administrative material from all U.S.
jurisdictions, Great Britain and the Commonwealth, Europe, and most
African, Asian and South American countries.
