Presenters: members of the PCC Task Group on Identity Management in NACO:
John J. Riemer, Head, UCLA Library Cataloging & Metadata Center and Violeta Ilik, Head, Digital Systems & Collection Services, Galter Health Sciences Library, Northwestern University
With increasing frequency, terminology like "Identity Management" is being used where one might previously have seen "Authority Control." What is driving this trend and what exactly is the difference between those concepts? Come hear about some of the emerging use cases illustrating the difference, where library authority data is being utilized in new ways. Let's discuss some of the implications these developments have for where authority work is done and who does it.
