On behalf of Library of Congress Internship and Fellowship Programs Division Chief George Coulbourne…

Please join the Library of Congress Internship & Fellowship Programs and Educational Outreach divisions for a presentation by Dr. Daniel Russell, Senior Research Scientist for Search Quality & User Happiness at Google, on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. in the Mumford Room of the James Madison Building. In “Why Library & Research Skills Matter to Everyone”, Russell will share his thoughts on the future of libraries, online question asking, information search and retrieval, and address following pressing questions…What is the future of search, online content, and reference questions?  How can today’s information searchers help us envision the library of the future?

Russell’s work focuses on understanding how searchers think of online content, exploring how they search and what they consider search success and failure. In a world of disinformation, fake news, and confounding information resources, the ability to search and navigate through information isn't just nice-to-know, but is critical.

The event information is listed below. ADA accommodations must be requested five days in advance by contacting (202) 707-6363, or [log in to unmask]
