On March 1, a USGS study will be released that shows potential ground-shaking hazards in 2017 from both human-induced and natural earthquakes.

This is an update to their 2016 forecast (https://www2.usgs.gov/blogs/features/usgs_top_story/induced-earthquakes-raise-chances-of-damaging-shaking-in-2016/) and the second year both types of hazards are forecasted, as previous USGS maps only identified hazards from natural earthquakes. The new report is valuable for making more informed decisions to reduce the nation’s vulnerability and providing safety information to those who may be at risk.

The USGS is the only federal agency with responsibility for recording and reporting earthquake activity nationwide and assessing seismic hazard.
