Richard, It isn’t a template but I thought I’d point out what NACO Training, Module 8 (NACO Administration), slide 16, says about reporting duplicate authority records and BFM: http://www.loc.gov/catworkshop/courses/naco-RDA/Module%208-NACO%20Administration.pptx Guidelines : After Independence Duplicate/BFM Message Identify which NAR to keep and which to delete and email that information to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> – Include both the LCCNs and the 1XX of the NARs – Include the LCCNs for the bibliographic records as well I know many people only send LCCNs but I personally find it quite helpful if both the LCCN and the 1XX are included in the message. Often it means I only have to do a single search in our catalog to retrieve the affected records rather than multiple LCCN searches. Other things I can suggest: · Please do not use an OCLC ARN (authority record number) instead of the LCCN · Please do not delete any internal spaces found in the LCCN · Please do not insert hyphens into the LCCN · Please do not delete any alphabetic prefixes found in the LCCN – just copy and paste whatever is in the 010 field All of the above will help us process the requests as quickly as possible. Thanks! Carl’s templates fit the bill. See the ones I use below, same idea. Mary Jane Cuneo Serials cataloging and NACO Information and Technical Services Harvard Library Hello NACO at LC, Please delete 010 = Entity is the same as 010 = BFM: Hello NACO at LC, One of our catalogers has established the new NAR: 010 = which means these records need BFM in loc.gov: 010 = From: Program for Cooperative Cataloging [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Horne, Carl Stanley Sent: Wednesday, March 15, 2017 2:05 PM To: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> Subject: Re: Templates for NACO BFM reporting Richard, I have never seen strictly prescribed formats for reporting BFM, etc., to LC. I use something like this Hello NACO, Just one new authority record: no2015-100234 78-535227 75-585118 to report BFM. (I find it easier to proofread the numbers in the message when I insert the dashes.) When reporting duplicate authority records, I do it this way: Hello NACO, Please delete no2004-699992 ; it duplicates no2004-700003 Please delete no97-32009 ; it duplicates no93-10724. I think the main thing is for the information to be very clear. If the folks at LC prefer something different, I haven’t ‘gotten the message’.
