Specifically, relating to the record below in mid-edit (*=field added or modified) :
- What, if anything, is the $w coding for the former 100 (the first 400)? Is it considered to have been valid, even if incorrect? I.e. is this coding a matter of RDA form only, regardless of fact (in this case regarding the dates)?
- Given the exception for Greek or Latin forms in RDA 188.8.131.52.2, is the DBI entry evidence really enough to justify a change of AP to match the vernacular form?
- Am I right to avoid CERL/VIAF/ISNI as potential sources of an even more painful variety of forms, which can take half a day to work thorough?
FWIW, the cut-off of 1400, rather than 1500, for preferring vernacular forms makes less and less sense to me as I approach my 400th incunabulum in a current project. In general I've wanted to avoid any authority work, though I'd like the records to stand. The 15th century authors seem in general to have only a Latin bibliographical persona.
