Currently there are three records below besides the one Jesse just created. It looks like Kim Joongi was born in 1965 (I think Alexis made a typo here by writing 1956). The romanization for Kim Joongi would be Kim, Chun-gi. If we add this with date1965 in the variant field, it will still conflict with AAP in another rec as you see below. So you will need additional qualifier as Adam suggested. But since I am going to create 3 new records from the undifferentiated rec with different qualifiers (in this case, no dates are available for all three. So I will use something like Author of educational sociology, etc.), we don't need any qualifier for Kim Chun-gi for the variant field in the rec that Jesse created. Then Alexis' concern of having a different form bet AAP and variant will be dismissed too. I already created, updated for every involved rec and in my local file. I am letting you know this so that no one will be doing a duplicate work. Thanks.Kim, Chun-gi, 1959-Kim, Chun-gi, 1965-Kim, Chun-gi with 3 people in an undifferentiated rec.On Wed, Apr 12, 2017 at 6:17 AM, Adam L. Jesse and Erica,
We at University of Michigan Law Library were in the process of creating a NAR for this person, when I happened upon the one that is now in distribution. As Erica mentioned, we the ALA romanized form of the name conflicts with the AAP of an undifferentiated record I wasn't going to touch the UPN, given that I am not skilled in the vernacular). One of the catalogers here had discovered that the author was born in 1956, but qualifying the romanized form would conflict with the AAP of another NAR.
We had the idea of adding the qualifier of (Lawyer) to the romanized name. But I wonder how acceptable it is to add such a qualifier to a Variant if the AAP is not also qualified. I'm interested to hear others' thoughts.

I will update the record you created once the distribution cycle ends. Since the new 400 romanization will be conflicting with the AAP in an undifferentiated record (nr 90016943) which contains three entities, I will need to separate them all with some qualifiers. So more work will be involved than you have suggested. Thank you.

The item I cataloged included a non-technical transliteration (which I used as the AAP) and I added the name in script from another source to 4xx.Good morning,I just created the authority record for Joongi Kim (It is in distribution now) and am asking if someone in the CJK funnel might be interested in adding the romanization of the author's name to a 4xx in the NAF?
