Whichever one you decide to go with, consider making a variant access point from the one not chosen.

Thanks a lot, Adam and Stephen!
Yes, Stephen, I will add the term “Sculpture” along with “Figurines, Prehistoric” in 380.
380 Figurines, Prehistoric $a Sculpture $2 lcsh
As for the qualifier itself, now I am wavering between the two. What are we striving for here? Subject precision, broader term keyword searching/indexing, user-friendliness?

Seconding Adam's comments favoring adding a qualifier--some of the "Lion man" bib access point in OCLC already use qualifiers, mostly indicating a television or motion picture production, so adding a qualifier to the new "Lion man" has
precedent.
I'd also suggest coding 380 Form of work with "Sculpture" and adding that as the qualifier. That appears to be the favored term in NAF records for anonymous sculpted works.

Got it. Thanks John!
There are quite a few “Lion man” titles in the OCLC (for books, films, TV series, etc.), but none is
established in NAF. So, I could just establish it in English as:
130 0 Lion man
I have been wondering, however, if we could set it up with a qualifier in this case, in order to prevent
it from being mistaken or misused for any of those existing works bearing the same title?
130 0 Lion man (Prehistoric figurine)
BTW, does anybody know what to put in 046 for this art object which was created nearly 40,000 years
ago?

See LC-PCC PS for 6.2.2.6.1 for named individual works of art. It looks like you would use an English title. No qualifier would be necessary unless there was a conflict.

Collective wisdom needed!
I am trying to construct a subject heading that I thought would fall into the category of named art objects (SHM H405, “Works
of art, Individual”, Group OneàNAF). The subject is “Der
Löwenmensch,” a prehistoric figurine made of mammoth ivory discovered in a Paleolithic cave near Ulm, Germany.
1) Since the Germans named it as Der Löwenmensch, would it be appropriate to keep it that way, or use the commonly known English term the “Lion Man”?
2) The MARC tag for the entity would have to be 130, would it not?
