Regarding the two other titles in the authority record: 1) Selected poems (OCoLC)04126373 Sitwell, Edith, ǂd 1887-1964 Selected poems, ǂb with an essay on her own poetry, ǂc by Edith Sitwell. So I guess I could easily update the bib by adding a 240 field based on a new uniform title, something like: 100 1 Sitwell, Edith, ǂd 1887-1964. ǂt Poems. ǂk Selections (Duckworth (Firm) : 1936) 2) Dame Edith Sitwell reading her poems, March 31, 1955 (OCoLC)29030811; (OCoLC)225894519 Sitwell, Edith, ǂd 1887-1964 Poems. ǂk Selections ǂc 1955. 1 audiotape reel : ǂb analog, 7 1/2 ips, 1 track, mono ; ǂc 10 in. There are two separate bib records in OCLC, each with a single holding: DLC and [log in to unmask] Since LC’s own policy is not to differentiate such aggregates, nothing further can be done about it. So, I believe, the authority record itself (LC no 98029419) will have to stay. What should I do when I have a similar “undifferentiated” record but I only have the resources to make a work record for one of the titles? Should I continue to treat the main work record like an undifferentiated name record and simply create a new work record for the title in hand and remove that title/400 from the “undifferentiated” record? Make a new work record and ignore the original one? The title I am currently working on is Poems Old & New by Edith Sitwell. The current work record no 98029419/ ARN 4609615 is an AACR2 style Poems. $k Selections set up with multiple titles representing different content. Under RDA these titles represent different aggregate works and therefore require distinct work records. However, my library does not have the other 2 titles cited in the 670s. 010 no 98029419 040 OCoLC ǂb eng ǂc OCoLC ǂd OO ǂd OrU ǂd DLC 1001 Sitwell, Edith, ǂd 1887-1964. ǂt Poems. ǂk Selections 4001 Sitwell, Edith, ǂd 1887-1964. ǂt Dame Edith Sitwell reading her poems, March 31, 1955 4001 Sitwell, Edith, ǂd 1887-1964. ǂt Collected poems 4001 Sitwell, Edith, ǂd 1887-1964. ǂt Selected poems 4001 Sitwell, Edith, ǂd 1887-1964. ǂt Poems new and old 4001 Sitwell, Edith, ǂd 1887-1964. ǂt Edith Sitwell reading from her poetry 667 Machine-derived authority record. 670 LCCN 93-842931: Sitwell, E. It is in fact a sort of undifferentiated record, as you point out. Bob Robert L. Maxwell Ancient Languages and Special Collections Librarian 6728 Harold B. I imagine it is similar to resolving undifferentiated name authority records for people, but I couldn’t find any guidance. I have a Works. Selections work record which has 2 400s, each representing different aggregate works. In other words, there are 2 different short story collections, each with totally different content. Under RDA these require separate records. Should I make 2 new work records, one for each title, and report the old one for deletion? Edit the old one and make 1 new record? In my case I am only cataloging 1 of the 2 titles. Thanks, Jessica
