Job Summary:

Responsible for the development and maintenance of all the modules of the House Library’s integrated library system (WorldShare), including system evaluation and enhancements. Responsible for original and copy cataloging of all materials owned or received by the House Library, including books, serials, and electronic resources. Candidate will be responsible for the development, documentation, and implementation of cataloging and systems policies and procedures. Assist in research and reference requests and projects and must support the library staff in the completion of daily tasks and activities.



Must possess 5 years of experience in copy and original cataloging, knowledge of the Library of Congress classification scheme, OCLC, bibliographic, and cataloging standards. Candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of integrated library systems, preferably WorldShare. Candidate must demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Candidate must possess a temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities tactfully, pleasantly, and professionally and must be well organized with an excellent telephone manner. Candidate must be detail, task and results-oriented; must possess an ability to quickly research, compile, and disseminate information, and must be able to demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Candidate must be able to lift and/or move with ease 25 pounds of library materials.

A Master’s degree in Library Science is required.
