Paul you're right that Deoxit is inappropriate but there is no belt in the 
reel drive for the Tascam 122 MkII. It's an idler drive system, similar to 
but not the same as in the later Tascam 122 MkIII.  This is made clear in 
the Service Manual.

The Service Manual I checked online only lists the complete assembly  (Idler 
Assy 5800107802) but that's probably unobtainable now and almost certainly 
only the two rubber tyres are what's needed here in any case. The tyres are 
probably still available. At least they were when I serviced two 122 MkII's 
7 years ago.

Normally the tyres would be replaced by a skilled technician unless Eli has 
the skills and is prepared to do it himself.
