Personally, I don’t think it warrants action. We receive unsolicited materials all the time. If it’s a local author, we would add to collection; otherwise, the books go onto shelves that are free to take whenever we have meetings here.

All,

It seems like entrepreneurial (and harmless) marketing from an enthusiastic self published author. Please let me know if you think this warrants an official inquiry from the Library CFB and I will contact her.

Thanks,

Becky

Subject: Book Received from Amazon

Hi all,

Yesterday, the Illinois Center for the Book received the book, Patchwork Love, from Amazon. With it, we received a note from Amazon stating,

“A gift for you. Please accept this copy of Patchwork Love for your state library collection. Fiction, general, family life, mystery. LOC 2017911090. Author Linda Lou Burton. 870-210-5170. [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.”

We’re a little confused by this here and wondering if any of you have received books like this from Amazon or this book from Amazon at your state center?

Thanks,

Bonnie Matheis
