Eero, thanks for your comments. My guess is the lassoo technique can work with a simple patterned noise such as the audience member whistle in this RX demo, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2fJL8RngjY but not so sure it would work on swish or hiss which is essentially random, and which is a far more common problem with legacy, damaged and amateur recorded media. I suspect if random noise could be surgically removed from legacy media it would justifiably cause a sensation...
