I'm not sure if this email ever made it to the Listserve, so I'm trying again.

Ed Komara and I have been using a VPI HW 16.5 at Crane for years.

http://www.vpiindustries.com/hw165

It's a great cleaner for vinyl discs up to 12 inches. For LPs, I think it works just as well as the Monks machine, and for thousands less. I've never tried it with 78s, but VPI notes that you should use a different vacuum pickup for shellac records than the one you use for vinyl, to avoid contaminating LPs with the grit inherent in shellac discs. I do find that it takes more than the two revolutions they suggest to vacuum all of the fluid off the record. Audio Advisor is an authorized dealer:

We also like the Groovy cleaning fluids from Bags Unlimited:

https://www.bagsunlimited.com/product/2320/groovy-vinyl-record-cleaning-fluid-8-oz

https://www.bagsunlimited.com/product/2328/groovy-vinyl-record-cleaning-fluid-32-oz

They also make a non-alcohol formula for lacquer and shellac discs:

https://www.bagsunlimited.com/product/2317/groovy-record-cleaner-for-78-records-br-32-oz-screw-top-cap-cleans-400-records

Their record sleeves are excellent. I've been using these on my LPs for years:

Another fine dealer with excellent record sleeves is Sleeve City. I especially like their heavy weight paper sleeves for 78s:

http://www.sleevecityusa.com/acid-free-white-paper-10-inch-record-sleeves-p/rs-245.htm

That's my 2 cents.

Best,
Gary

I'd throw in a mention for the Nitty-Gritty line . If you only have a couple hundred disks, and you feel it's not worth the money going to one of the units mentioned below, the Nitty Gritty models do a very decent job and have very strong vacuum suction. I prefer manual models for the Nitty Gritty line.

Kind Regards,
