Dear all,

the ‘early bird’ registration deadline for 2018 IASA conference in Accra,
Ghana, ends in just a few days, on *September 3*, so don’t delay – *register
now* at http://2018.iasa-web.org/registration ! Don’t miss this opportunity
to register for lower prices!

You might be interested to know that the logo of IASA 2018 conference
depicts the Sankofa bird, which is one of the Akan/Ashanti art symbols, and
it “depicts a mythical bird flying forward with its head turned backward.
The egg in its mouth represents the ‘gems’ or knowledge of the past upon
which wisdom is based; it also signifies the generation to come that would
benefit from that wisdom.”(quoted from the Witness Stones website, read
more here: https://witnessstones.org/what-are-witness-stones/
sankofa-by-design/ ) Thank you to our local hosts from the Institute of
African Studies, University of Ghana, for providing us with this idea and
background information!

Take a look at the conference website http://2018.iasa-web.org/ for
information about the programme, venue, social events, advice and much more.

Akwaaba – Welcome!

On behalf of the organising committee,
