Dear BIBCO colleagues,

Many of you may know that Hien Nguyen, the CONSER Program Specialist who had also been serving as acting BIBCO Coordinator, received a well-deserved promotion earlier this year. Although still at the Library of Congress, she is no longer a member of the Cooperative Cataloging Section. I have been asked to take on the role of acting BIBCO Coordinator.

I am currently in the process of bringing some new BIBCO members on board. I have also been corresponding with other institutions that are considering joining the BIBCO program in the near future. For those libraries new to the BIBCO program, a crucial part of becoming an independent BIBCO contributor is having your bibliographic records reviewed by an already independent BIBCO cataloger.

I would like to invite the more experienced among you to consider volunteering to become a BIBCO reviewer. Please let me know if you would be interested in sharing your expertise with those new to the program by helping to review their BIBCO records. Remember that you were once in the position that they are now. We will all benefit from your work.

For more information on the review process, please see the BIBCO Participants' Manual, section G (BIBCO Record Review), on p. 34-35:

You may respond to me directly at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>

I would also be interested in hearing from you about anything relating to the BIBCO program that you'd like to share. Because I'm new to this role, I have a lot to learn.
