I am pleased to announce that the John W. Kluge Center and the Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress have formally launched the website and the new application portal for the inaugural Philip Lee Phillips Map Society Research Fellowship in Cartography. The deadline for applications for the first fellowship award will be February 15th with the announcement of the winner on or near April 1st. Winners will receive $2875.00 every two weeks for a period of 8 weeks. For details see the portal:

https://www.loc.gov/programs/john-w-kluge-center/chairs-fellowships/fellowships/philip-lee-phillips/

The competition will be overseen by the staff of the Kluge Center, who will screen the applications for completeness, they will then be reviewed by G&M, with qualified applicants sent to a select committee of Phillips members, who will recommend the one fellow annually for the award. The final decision on the award will be made by the Chief of the Division.

This is one of the most lucrative fellowships dedicated to the History of Cartography and we are looking forward a successful first competition.

Please feel free to forward this to anyone who might be interestedAll the best.
