I would like to see the meeting be in the vicinity of ALA Annual conference which is the 20-25 of June because I'm going to try to come for ALA already and generally Alaska can't send anyone to the idea exchange. So depending on when it were scheduled then I would try to be there for the Exchange as well. Ideally the Wednesday or Thursday before the conference. I'm planning to shop for tickets, somewhat soon to reduce the cost overall, as I have no funding to attend either event. So knowing the dates sooner than later would be good.

thanks for asking our opinions!

All—please see an email exchange I had with Julianna Robbins of California.

Do any of you have strong feelings re when we might have the Idea Exchange meeting?

Of course it will also depend on availability of a space for the event. I will work on deciding on a date first thing in 2019.

Happy holidays to all!

Thank you for another great year. We will soon (Jan. 25) celebrate the opening of the Puerto Rico Center for the Book – our 53rd affiliate.

See you in 2019,

Guy

Wondering if June 17-19/20 timeframe would work right before ALA? Might be cool.

Thanks for the tweak. I need to get this decided and find a space here.

We always try to have it after Library Legislative Day. I just went to ALA website and found this. Do I read it correctly that there is NO Lib Leg Day in 2019? I had originally thought we would have Idea Exchange in June.

Do you have any preferences? Maybe I should poll the group?

National Library Legislative Day (NLLD) is a two-day educational event that brings hundreds of librarians, trustees, library supporters, and patrons to Washington, D.C. Attendees spend one day learning about effective advocacy tactics and pressing federal legislative issues that are impacting libraries. On the second day, they join attendees from their state to meet with their members of Congress and rally support for library issues and policies. Open to the public, the event also offers attendees the opportunity to attend a reception on Capitol Hill.

Note: In light of ALA's Annual Conference, which will take place in Washington, D.C. on June 20-25, 2019, the next National Library Legislative Day will occur in 2020. Check back for updates or contact Megan Ortegon, manager of Public Policy, for more information.
