My guess is that the assumption was that the names were meant to
distinguish art (for Beauty and the Beast, pictures by Erica Ducornet, a
name used early on) and fiction (The Stain, by Rikki Ducornet) from poetry
(Rikki, several volumes). The counter argument would be that the author did
not intend these to be separate bodies of work (other poetry volumes have
appeared under Rikki Ducornet; and Erica appears to be a long abandoned
form of name). Definitive evidence would be a statement from Ducornet. As
it stands, the evidence is ambiguous; but I agree that Adam was reading the
authority records' intent correctly.
