The Student Financial Assistance Committee (SFAC) of the District of Columbia Library Association (DCLA) is pleased to announce the 2019 competition for its Ruth Fine Memorial Student Loan of $6,000 in support of ALA-accredited graduate library/information science education.

This interest-free loan, which the SFAC can forgive upon an awardee’s maintaining a 3.0 or better GPA for the twelve months following the award, has been made to students in the DC metro area since 2002 thanks to a bequest from Ms. Fine (a past president of DCLA).

To date, ALL our awardees have had their loans forgiven.

One Student Loan of $6,000 will be awarded in 2019.

The SFAC will accept applications, letters of recommendation, and other supporting materials by mail or email from now until Saturday, May 25, 2019.  Applicants must be a member of DCLA [student memberships are only $5!].

Preference is given to Washington, DC residents or someone employed in the District of Columbia.  For complete information, please visit
