All,

The few records that have been produced so far were a result of a test of the programming. We are in the process of preparing several batches of records to be created and distributed with many more to come. PSD will issue an announcement shortly that will alert everyone to the date that full production will begin. The non-multiples may not be issued in strict alphabetical order, but there is a spreadsheet on our web site (https://www.loc.gov/aba/cataloging/subject/Multiples%20Cancellation%20Project%20progress.xlsx ) that will be updated to show the progress of the project.

Please watch for the announcement from PSD.

All the best,

Libby

So few! I totally will not be holding my breath, then. They do seem to be going alphabetically. Thanx, Adam.

P.S. If you want to see what has been created and distributed so far, there’s a simple way. Based on the 670 note being put into the records, you can do an authority note keyword search in OCLC to find all of them.

010 sh2019001931
040 DLC ǂb eng ǂc DLC
150 Accidents ǂx Religious aspects ǂx Buddhism
670 Heading formerly based on a multiple subdivision and used in OCLC, 2019.

I did an authority note keyword search on “Heading formerly based multiple subdivision used OCLC” and got just 12 records:

Abidji language $x Religious aspects
Abidji language $x Religious aspects $x Catholic Church
Absurd (Philosophy) $x Religious aspects $x Catholic Church
Absurd (Philosophy) $x Religious aspects $x Christianity
Absurd (Philosophy) $x Religious aspects $x Islam
Absurd (Philosophy) $x Religious aspects $x Orthodox Eastern Church
Accidents $x Religious aspects $x Buddhism
Accidents $x Religious aspects $x Christianity
Accidents $x Religious aspects $x Islam
Accidents $x Religious aspects $x Judaism
Acquaintance rape $x $x Religious aspects $x Christianity
Acquiescence (Psychology) $x Religious aspects $x Christianity

All of the above were added this month, so it looks as if the project to create the subject authorities is just really getting underway. But once they are created and distributed, they will appear quickly in Class Web.

Subject: Multiples in ClassWeb

To anyone who knows:
When are the new non-multiple LCSHs going to be appearing in ClassWeb? We still have multiples such as:

Animals—Religious aspects—Baptists, [Catholic Church, etc.]

Animals—Religious aspects—Buddhism, [Christianity, etc.]

Food—Religious aspects—Baptists, [Catholic Church, etc.]
Food—Religious aspects—Buddhism, [Christianity, etc.]

Maybe many have been done already, but it just takes a long time to get around to them all?
