MarcEdit: Past, Present, and Future

2019 marks the 20th anniversary of development of MarcEdit, the freely available suite of tools for metadata transformation and editing. This session will highlight the impact of MarcEdit on the work of catalogers and the unique partnership between the developer and the user community.

Terry Reese, developer of MarcEdit, is the keynote speaker. Terry will share some reflections on the development process and how he has worked with the cataloging community to respond to catalogers’ needs. Terry will also share his thoughts about future development of MarcEdit.

MarcEdit has made it possible to work with metadata in ways that have transformed the cataloging landscape. Bryan Baldus, OCLC, and Mike Monaco, University of Akron, will present about the ways they use MarcEdit to accomplish work that was not previously possible.

This session is co-sponsored by CaMMS and the Program for Cooperative Cataloging.
