Hi, All,

Thanks to Guy for this info on book sales. I'm wondering how those of you who requested this info are planning to use it? The numbers are very low so I don't see how I can crow about it. It would be interesting to think if in aggregate we could talk about possible impact in future years. Can we put this on the agenda for our meeting?

As for Route 1 Reads books on sale, I'm all for it! We could certainly bring a poster for the display table and encourage people to visit our booths to pick up whatever ancillaries we are creating.

I do wonder if down the line we could think about even more ways to bring stories from the states to NBF ... (Hey ... I like that phrase ... "Stories from the States" .... can we do something with that?)

At any rate, I am in recovery from our state book awards event on Tuesday ... we had standing room only in our Great Hall at the State House, kicked off the day by presenting our 2019 state literacy award to Beacon Press, celebrated lots of authors with lots of legislators and even watched as the Rep from Salem and the Rep from Lenox debated who had the most claim on Hawthorne. Of course, I wasn't going to touch that ... but hey with an office in Concord I'm pretty sure I was going to win that argument!

All—many of you have asked for sales figures for the books you chose to feature in the Parade of the States. The spreadsheet is attached. He did not provide exact figures for quantities ordered; only for what was sold.

Here is what Brad Graham said to me regarding these titles:

Guy,

Attached is a list, by title, of the sales this year of books that were on the Great Reads table. We didn't order the same quantities for each title because some seemed to us more likely to sell than others. Normally, we order anywhere from five copies to, in rare cases, more than 25 copies.
