Network library staff who have completed at least six months on the job may now register for one of three 2020 NLS orientation programs. NLS also offers an optional equipment inspection/repair workshop following each orientation session.

The 2020 orientation schedule is:

Representatives from each of the NLS divisions, sections, and offices will brief participants on NLS functions and answer questions. Each registrant may choose two one-hour Experience NLS sessions on topics such as accessing the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) service, audiobook production, and book selection for the national collection. Participants will also have a professional tour of the Library of Congress buildings on Capitol Hill.

A sample agenda is available at 10.4 Sample Orientation Schedule. Participants are expected to attend the entire three-day program.
