Subject: NEC Power Outage COB October 11 - 14 2019 - 3 day weekend

Hello fellow JUCR co-users,

                It' is back.   Facilities has requested a management notice to be released soon.  The proposed text is as follows;

            "Required repairs to the Embassy electrical system involve a complete controlled shutdown of all electrical power to the Embassy and compound.

Electrical power will be shut down, beginning Saturday October 12 at 0600 through Monday October 14, 1800.

All desks, all offices, all buildings, and all systems including; air conditioning, lighting, power doors, vehicle gates, internet, and land phones. Vehicles will be able to use exterior garage parking only during this shutdown.

Essential staff including Cleared American personnel are requested to submit an RSO access request if planning to come onto Embassy Compound during Saturday shutdown. Normal operations and normal after-hours access will resume at 1800 Monday. Please plan accordingly as all Visitor Access Requests (VARs) or potential VARs should be in the system prior to the close of business on Friday, September 6 so that RSO can print them.

We request that all staff to please log off and shut down computer workstations and power off desk UPS any printers in your area at close of business on Friday. Outage will extend beyond capacity of any local Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). Any personal devices connected at your desks may not automatically restart after power is restored. "

Recent work on the JUCR Blade UPSs has resulted in the degradation of the service. Due to the discovery of bad batteries, the Blade UPS estimated battery uptime has been severely diminished, until replacement batteries can be procured and installed by the vendor..

Please let me know how and when the ISC can assist you in shutting down your equipment in the JUCR and the TRs for that weekend.

Thanks.  Roy
